About MBI

For more than 45 years, MBI has handled complex foundation and marine work across the East Coast by sticking to one rule: do it right, stand by your word, and don’t make excuses.

How It All Started

We started MBI in 1981 doing marine contracting work. Commercial jobs, built the right way. As our clients grew, they asked us to take on more- pile driving, excavation, then complete foundation packages. Instead of passing it off, we expanded carefully and built the capacity in-house. Today, we handle everything from marine construction to deep foundations to concrete superstructures. Forty-five years later, we’re still here, doing the work the same way we always have.

Our field crews have hands-on experience across virtually every major deep foundation system in use today. A few things that set them apart:

  • They’ve installed CFA, FDP, drilled shafts, caissons, soil mix walls and other complex pile systems on projects of every size- not once or twice, but over decades in the field.
  • They’re trained on large, high-barrier equipment that can’t simply be rented and “figured out” on the fly.
  • We retain our key team members long-term, so the seasoned crews in our portfolio are the same professionals running work on your site.

You don’t last this long without learning a few things. Here’s what keeps us in business.

We’re upfront about cost. We don’t lowball a job just to win the bid and hit you with change orders later.

Our focus is on work that demands real expertise like; CFA piles, FDP piles, and drilled shafts in difficult soil. That’s where we built our reputation.

Construction can churn through people, but we don’t. We keep our core crew working because we know their experience is our biggest asset.

We’re licensed, bonded, and insured everywhere we operate, including NY, NJ, CT, and Florida.

After 45 years, our name still means something. We’re not risking that reputation on one shortcut or one bad job.

We Own Our Schedule
(And Yours)

Nothing is more frustrating than a contractor who shows up, collects a check, and then disappears when things get complicated. That’s not how we operate. When we start a project, we stay on it every day. We prepare materials, manpower, and logistics in advance so we’re not waiting around once the first pile goes in. From day one to final foundation, our crews are on-site and moving forward. By managing the entire scope, we eliminate the “finger-pointing” between trades that usually kills a schedule.

Insurance & Bondability

If something goes sideways on your project, you don’t want a contractor who lacks the financial backing to handle it. MBI is a fully bondable firm with the financial strength to float projects ranging from $100,000 to over $40 million. We pay our suppliers every single Friday regardless of when we get paid, so your supply chain never snaps.

Why 90% of Our Work is
Repeat Business

We’ve completed over 500 projects, and the vast majority of our current work comes from clients who have been with us for 25 to 30 years. They keep coming back because they know exactly what they’re getting- straight answers and a partner who is as dependable as the foundations we build.

Ready for a Real Partner?

If you’re a developer of GC who’s tired of excuses and “cut-rate” competitors that cost you more in the long run, let’s talk. We build a predictable backlog by being the guy who actually gets the job done right the first time. For immediate assistance or project recaps, our office is ready to ensure your bid gets the attention it deserves.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Is MBI still family-owned?

Yes. MBI has operated under the same ownership since 1981. The company hasn’t changed names, disappeared, or restructured to escape problems. That continuity is part of what clients rely on.

Projects range from $100,000 to $30-40 million. We take on larger, more complex commercial work, but still support repeat clients on smaller projects when it makes sense.

Full foundation packages are preferred- excavation, SOE, piles, waterproofing, and concrete all under one contract. It simplifies coordination and gives everyone clearer accountability. That said, we still perform individual scopes when needed.

Growth is intentional, not reckless. The goal isn’t to become the biggest contractor in the market, it’s to stay controlled, profitable, and dependable while adding the right new partners. We would rather turn down bad work than take something on that will hurt us down the line.

MBI works primarily with commercial developers, general contractors, and select municipalities across the East Coast. Most projects involved large-scale foundation, marine, or structural concrete work.
